Our extensive product offering encompasses windows, exterior doors, interior doors and related building products that are sold globally through multiple distribution channels, including retail home centers, wholesale distributors and building products dealers. JELD-WEN (NYSE:JELD), founded in 1960, is one of the world’s largest door and window manufacturers, operating 117 manufacturing facilities in 19 countries located primarily in North America, Europe and Australia. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, JELD- WEN designs, produces and distributes an extensive range of interior and exterior doors, wood, vinyl and aluminum windows and related products for use in the new construction and repair and remodeling of residential homes and non-residential buildings. JELD-WEN is a recognized leader in manufacturing energy-efficient products and has been an ENERGY STAR® Partner since 1998. Our products are marketed globally under the JELD-WEN® brand, along with several market-leading regional brands such as Swedoor® and DANA® in Europe and Corinthian®, Stegbar®, and Trend® in Australia. JELD-WEN’s secret to longer-lasting wood windows and doors is an exclusive manufacturing process that protects against wood rot, water saturation, and termites. This process is how we make AuraLast® wood. Unlike dip-treated wood, which is common in the industry, JELD- WEN’s vacuum pressure process forces the protective ingredients all the way through to the core of the wood for virtually 100% penetration. We use a closed-loop, water-based system, which reduces volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) by 96% compared to the ordinary method of dip-treating wood in open vats of petroleum-based fluids. Our intense, vacuum pressure process also results in using less preservative to achieve an even greater level of effectiveness. The reliability of AuraLast® wood is only available at JELD-WEN. Employees are dedicated to furnishing you with reliable windows and doors that deliver years of beautiful dependability. Our goal is that every product made is a promise kept. Employees are empowered to continuously improve products, customer service, and manufacturing excellence through our Superior Performance Program which is a framework for employees to submit ideas and participate in the implementation of their ideas. JELD-WEN has been active in the communities where company operations exist. In 1969, the company began making contributions to the JELD-WEN Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to enhance the communities where JELD-WEN employees live. In the U.S., the JELD-WEN Foundation contributes to the United Way, which provides college scholarships and grants for worthwhile community projects. JELD-WEN was founded by Richard ”Dick” Wendt, an entrepreneur at heart, who learned the art of managing a manufacturing company under the tutelage of his father, Caradco executive Lester Wendt. In 1957, Iowa-based Caradco sent Dick to Oregon to help run the company’s millwork plant in Klamath Falls. Caradco decided to sell the plant at auction. Dick and four business partners, Larry Wetter, John Biehn, Gerry Wickersham, and Bill Taylor bought many of the assets on October 25, 1960 and named the new company JELD-WEN. With just 15 employees, JELD-WEN quickly gained the reputation of producing a reliable product. After just two years, JELD-WEN became successful enough to begin acquiring new manufacturing facilities and expand its product offering. One secret of the initial success of JELD-WEN was the company’s resourcefulness and deliberate decision to use for a high-value purpose every last bit of raw resource that entered its doors, a philosophy that still stands true today. While the company looked for new business ventures to advance the company, it also was committed to investing in the local community. JELD-WEN began formal community support initiatives in 1969 and continues to provide financial assistance through grants, scholarships, and matching JELD-WEN employees’ voluntary United Way donations. Today JELD-WEN employs approximately 21,000 people worldwide and has manufacturing, distribution and showroom locations across the United States and in 24 countries, located primarily in North America, Europe and Australia.
