WEAVER In 2006 Phil Weaver was named President and CEO of Hope Network, a $170 million non-profit based in Grand Rapids with more than 3000 employees and serves more than 80 counties in Michigan. Phil brought a business background to go with Hope’s mission “In Christian service, Hope Network empowers people to overcome challenges and to achieve their highest level of independence”. Prior to joining Hope Network, Phil was President and CEO of Goodwill of Greater Grand Rapids. During his 25 years in the public and private sectors, Phil held several positions in Human Resources, Organizational Development/Strategy, and Executive Operations Management with Stryker Corporation, Ford Motor Company, Triple S Plastics and Eimo Americas. Phil believes that an organization’s leader needs to bring a passion and commitment for its mission and values, and is responsible for communicating that mission to the community and other stakeholders. Phil began his career as a teacher and coached for several years in public schools. He also served on the School Board for more than 11 years, and is serving or has been a member of the Alliance for Health Board, Priority Health Quality Committee, United Way Finance Committee, the Employers Healthcare Council, Genesis Board, Michigan Association of Rehabilitation Organizations, Michigan Brain Injury Association, he also serves as chair of the Michigan Coalition of Health & Human Service Providers and several other nonprofit corporations within Hope Network. Phil holds a degree in Education from Northern Michigan University in Marquette and a Masters degree from Michigan State University. Phil has been married for 33 years to his wife Mary Ann, and has three sons and two grand children. He currently resides in Caledonia, Michigan. Hope Network served more than 33,000 people last year alone, and also runs the largest non-profit transportation system in Michigan.
