CEO Today had the pleasure of hearing from Kylie Van Luyn, the founder and leader of Elevated Coaching and Consulting. Kylie gives us an insight into the inspired techniques for coaching to empower business leaders to grow and succeed. Based on Kylie’s own values and knowledge, Elevated Coaching and Consulting is able to help clients achieve goals whilst prioritizing social impact. In this interview we hear about Kylie’s own motivation, how her program impacts her clients and the importance of focusing on social impact for a business.
Kylie, what was it that inspired you to start up Elevated Coaching and Consulting, what motivates you to support individuals and businesses to grow and succeed?
For years I had dreamed of creating something of my own, that would combine all the best parts of my career, and all the things I loved doing that truly fulfilled me. I wanted to create a company where I could achieve global social impact and build a team and an amazing workplace culture.
I have always loved empowering others to find their voice, to build their confidence and to pursue their goals and dreams. I have always been passionate about diversity, inclusion, equality and workplace rights and fairness.
I am driven by the absolute certainty that I was born to make a difference in the world. My purpose is to support individuals and organizations to reach their potential and thrive. Feeling the impact of my work is a huge drive for me, and seeing the difference my work and the work of my team makes is unbeatable, we are changing lives!
How do you intertwine both your background in executive leadership roles and being a qualified psychotherapist, do these areas of knowledge help to support your clients in a way another coaching and consulting firm would not be able to do?
Yes absolutely! My background in executive leadership roles and qualifications as a psychotherapist, emotional intelligence coach and NLP Master Practitioner uniquely position me and ECC Global to offer comprehensive support to our clients. Drawing on my executive experience, I bring a deep understanding of organizational dynamics, strategic planning, and leadership challenges. Simultaneously, my expertise as a psychotherapist allows me to delve into the human aspect, addressing individual and interpersonal dynamics, fostering emotional intelligence, and facilitating personal growth. This dual perspective enables me to provide a holistic approach that goes beyond traditional coaching and consulting firms, offering a nuanced understanding of both the professional and personal dimensions of our clients’ lives, ultimately leading to more tailored and effective support.
We adopt a psychological lens to all of the work we do at ECC Global, both coaching and consulting. We know that if individuals, teams, leaders, and organizations don’t adopt a growth mindset and focus on positive psychology, achieving sustainable success, growth and innovation is near impossible.
We adopt NLP and Positive Psychology techniques, practices, and processes to provide much more holistic support to our clients, which is not typical in a consulting practice. What we have witnessed is sustained behavior change in leaders, and team members that results in collective success for organizations.
What is it that makes your coaching program so effective and who is this targeted towards?
We offer multiple coaching programs tailored to different groups.
Career Coaching: A coaching option for everyone: from high school graduates to people exploring a new career path. We have extensive experience delivering tailored and results-driven career coaching to individuals, adopting a strengths-based and solutions-focused approach.
Leadership Coaching: We work closely with leaders across all industries and levels of management to support, empower and develop crucial leadership skills.
Elevated Mindset® Coaching program: As Master NLP Practitioners, Psychotherapists and Coaches, we adopt Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques and processes to address limiting beliefs. We support you in understanding your behaviors, establishing boundaries, improving your emotional intelligence, achieving goals, and fulfilling your potential by having more confidence, self-belief and clarity in your abilities.
We also coach individuals, specifically young people, people living with disabilities, migrants, refugees and women who are returning to the workforce or in need of coaching and pre-employment support to help launch their own businesses or pursue meaningful, sustainable employment.
Your coaching program includes empowering women in multiple different ways, why can this resource be helpful and why is it important to you to make sure this guidance is included in your company?
Empowering women is a vital component of our suite of coaching programs because we recognize the unique challenges and strengths that women bring to the professional landscape. This resource is crucial as it provides tailored guidance, fostering confidence, leadership skills, and resilience among women. It is important to me to include this focus in our company because diversity and inclusivity are not just buzzwords but essential elements for fostering innovation and success. By addressing the specific needs of women, we contribute to creating more equitable and supportive workplace environments and we empower women to pursue their aspirations. Our commitment to empowering women aligns with our organizational mission, vision and values and our belief in harnessing the full potential of every individual.
Can you tell us the process of how you support your clients, has there been a project recently that you were able to successfully assist with and how do you ensure the client is able to thrive once you have parted ways?
We embed ourselves in the organizations that we work with, we are genuine partners, and we support our partners every step of the way!
One of the most important parts of our coaching and consulting approach and process is to establish trust and rapport with everyone we work with (coaching or consulting), we do this by using a positive psychology approach. Throughout the entire project, we act as coaches for all involved, we create a safe space for leaders, teams, and individuals to ask questions, show up authentically and voice their concerns, challenges and what is and is not working for them. People want to be seen, heard and respected during times of change.
For example: I knew there was a need and gaps in the US market for a combined focus on DEI and psychological safety training, consulting and leadership coaching and we incorporated that into our US expansion and service offerings.
I also identified a gap in early intervention disability awareness and inclusion at the elementary school level, so my team and I created our Uniquely Us program, now delivered in schools across the US.
Similarly, in Australia in partnership with a national Non-profit, we identified a need to design a pre-employment program supporting migrant women into sustainable employment using a positive psychology model. I designed the program, applied for grant funding and we won, the program is still being delivered into its 2nd year and has supported over 400 migrant women on their journey to meaningful employment.
At Elevated Coaching and Consulting your values speak for themselves, why is it important to you to be conscious of social impact when you are working with other companies, how does this help you and your clients prosper?
My team and I are all purpose-driven, so without our focus on social impact and the right partners who align with our values, we wouldn’t operate as well as we do, or be as successful as we are.
I believe that conscious consideration of social impact is not just a responsibility, but a crucial element for sustainable business success. By aligning our values with those of our clients and prioritizing social impact, we create a positive ripple effect that goes beyond mere profit margins. This approach fosters a collaborative and purpose-driven business environment, contributing to the overall well-being of communities. Clients benefit from enhanced brand reputation, employee satisfaction, and customer loyalty, resulting in long-term prosperity. Our commitment to social impact isn’t just about doing good; it’s about building a foundation for lasting success that extends beyond the bottom line.
What are the common signs that a business or individual may need consultancy assistance from you, how can they spot the signs and seek professional guidance?
Identifying the need for consultancy assistance often involves recognizing key signs within a business or individual’s operations. Common indicators may include stagnant growth, declining efficiency, unclear strategic direction, or challenges adapting to industry changes. If decision-making becomes increasingly difficult, financial performance is inconsistent, or there’s a lack of innovation, it’s time to consider professional guidance. Observing these signs and acknowledging the need for external expertise is the first step. Businesses and individuals can then proactively seek consultancy assistance to conduct a thorough assessment, identify root issues, and formulate a tailored strategy for improvement and sustainable success.
Some of the typical “red flags” our clients present with include: concerns about lack of organizational diversity and inclusion, high staff turnover/lack of retention, low employee morale, psychosocial hazards being identified in the workplace, including unreasonable workloads, employee burnout and organizational change not being executed in a way that takes employees on the journey.
You believe that a program design is necessary to allow an organization to adapt and grow in a competitive environment, how do you set up the program and how do you personalize each program to suit each company?
Designing a program for organizational adaptation and growth involves a strategic and personalized approach. Initially, a comprehensive assessment of the company’s current state, goals, and challenges is conducted. This informs the development of a flexible program framework that can accommodate evolving needs. The key is to establish clear objectives, measurable milestones, and a timeline.
Personalizing each program or plan for different companies entails understanding their unique culture, industry dynamics, and specific pain points. Tailored solutions may include targeted training, leadership development, process optimization, or technology integration. Regular communication and feedback loops ensure continuous refinement and alignment with the company’s evolving needs. Flexibility within the program allows for adaptation to changing market conditions, fostering resilience and sustained growth in a competitive environment.
